MAIFEST CELEBRATES SENIOR ROYALTY AT CORONATION
Inclement weather did not stop the Brenham Maifest and the Senior Court from having the “Summer of a Lifetime”.
Friday’s Senior Coronation was pushed back two hours due to stormy conditions, but the rain subsided and allowed the ceremony to go on without further interruption.
This year’s theme celebrated all the fun that comes with summertime, like traveling to destinations around the world, playing seasonal sports and games, and enjoying activities at summer camp.
Reigning over the court of “Summer of a Lifetime” were Senior Queen Emerson “Emmie” Taylor Behrens and Senior King Henry Latham Stopschinski.
The Junior Queen and King, Elizabeth Grace “Ellie” Alfred and Everett Alexander McCarty Gonzales, will be crowned tonight (Saturday) at 6:30 p.m. as they reign over the court of “The Wonderful Things We Imagine”.
Today’s activities kick off with the parade through downtown Brenham at 10:30 a.m. KWHI will broadcast the parade live starting at 10:05 a.m. and will livestream it on Facebook, sponsored by Tres Chic Boutique. Following the parade, the Maifestival grounds and carnival will open for music and dance performances, beer tasting and games.
Entertainment will be provided by The Oompahs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Das Ist Lustig from 2 to 5 p.m., Isaak Klaus and the Lederhosen Junkies from 5 to 8 p.m., and the David Reynolds Band from 9 p.m. to midnight. Admission to the festival is free. Coronation tickets can be purchased at https://brenhammaifest.com.
