Ashley Hoffman Slater, who was also a former member of the Bellville City Council from May 2020 up until her resignation last August, was sentenced to five years’ deferred adjudication probation and must complete 400 hours of community service.

Slater was arrested and indicted in September on a charge of Theft of Property $2,500 - $30,000.

The Austin County Sheriff’s Office said it began an investigation following claims of someone stealing money from concession stand receipts from the 2023-24 Little League baseball season.  Investigators from the sheriff’s office, in coordination with the Austin County District Attorney’s Office, discovered through bank records and Little League records that over $10,000 was stolen from the league.

Per the Austin County District Clerk’s Office, Slater’s sentence also includes an order to pay $13,334 in restitution to Bellville Little League, plus court costs and associated fees.  In addition, she must write letters of apology to Bellville Little League and each Little League sponsor.
