BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO RECEIVE OATHS OF OFFICE THURSDAY
New and returning Brenham City Councilmembers will receive the oath of office on Thursday.
Steve Soman will be sworn in to the Ward 1 seat alongside three incumbents: Dr. Paul LaRoche III for Ward 3, Clint Kolby for At-Large Position 5 and Leah Cook for At-Large Position 6.
The council will then hold a work session for pending public finance legislation. Specifically, the council plans to discuss House Bill 19, which would restrict a municipality’s ability to issue certificates of obligation, and what the city’s plan of action should be if the legislation passes.
Once in regular session, councilmembers will re-vote on an amendment to the city’s rate tariff schedule for water utility services. The increase to water rates was originally approved by the council in April, but is coming back to council due to an oversight in the original rate calculation.
In other business, the council will act on a resolution authorizing the acceptance of public infrastructure improvements for the Saeger Street right-of-way adjacent to the Wilkins Valley subdivision.
In addition, members will take up a professional services agreement with Michael Baker International, Inc. for engineering and design services to extend Aviation Way at the Brenham Municipal Airport. They will also accept a donation from the Fortnightly Club of Brenham for the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library.
The council will meet Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
