WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO POSSIBLY NAME NEW 4-H AGENT

Washington County Commissioners will potentially accept a candidate for a new 4-H agent when they meet Tuesday.

The 4-H agent position was formerly held by Pearl Jones, who is now listed as the 4-H and Youth Development Agent for Potter County in the Panhandle.  Jones had held the Washington County position since her appointment in May 2023.

Tuesday’s action will come as the county also faces the departure of extension agent Kara Matheney, who is starting a new role as an extension agent in Victoria County.  Matheney was presented a service award in December for 10 years with Washington County.

Also on Tuesday, commissioners will receive a quarterly economic development report, act on a job description for payroll specialist in the Human Resources Department, and possibly renew the county’s interlocal agreement with the Brazos Valley Council of Governments for E-911 public safety answering point (PSAP) services.  Additionally, a proclamation will be read to declare May 19-23 as Flood Awareness Week.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
