BURTON BRIDGE MINISTRY PRESENTS SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING SENIORS
The Burton Bridge Ministry has awarded scholarships to 11 students from Burton ISD’s class of 2025.
The $1,000 scholarships were presented during a ceremony last week at Burton High School. This is the first time the ministry has presented student scholarships in its 15 years of serving the community.
The recipients are:
- Brooklyn Anthony
- Avery Applewhite
- Daniel Casas
- Laura Dawkins
- Elizabeth Dorantes
- Hannah Herrin
- Kara Kaye
- Jennifer Lopez
- Tony Pritchett
- Keyonna Ray
- Avianna Triplett
The ministry says its scholarship committee selected eligible applicants by looking beyond academic scores and class rankings to evaluate the whole student, including their participation in volunteering and service communities. Eligibility was limited to those who live within Burton ISD’s geographical boundaries.
Deciding factors consisted of the student’s family income, number of siblings and any extenuating circumstances that might result in challenges. Higher education plans included students attending trade and technical schools.
The ministry says it is “honored to be a part of these students’ stories, and looks forward to seeing their success in this next chapter of their education and career aspirations.”
