BURTON TAKING ON SHINER IN DOUBLE HEADER TODAY

It’s time to play ball! Today is game day for the Burton Panthers! They will be facing the Shiner Comanches for the 2A Regional Finals in Bastrop for a double header starting at 5pm with game 2 beginning 30 minutes after game 1 goes final and a game 3 on Saturday at 3:00pm if needed.

After coming off a series win against the Flatonia Bulldogs, the Panthers will be facing a formidable opponent in the Comanches who are coming off a series sweep of the Bartlett Bulldogs.

Coach Matt Thaler will have his team looking to carry their momentum from their last 2 games that saw them score a combined 21 runs. While Shiner finished the regular season with a 25-4 record compared to Burton’s 21-10 record, both teams have averaged exactly 8.6 runs per game and have almost identical neutral site records at 7-0 and 7-1 respectively.

Expect an intense playoff atmosphere and a tightly contested matchup as both teams fight for a UIL State Championship berth.
