WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER AGREEMENT BETWEEN EMS, ORGAN/TISSUE DONATION ORGANIZATION

An agreement between Washington County EMS and an organ and tissue procurement organization will be considered by county commissioners on Tuesday.

The court will vote on a memorandum of understanding with LifeGift Organ Donation Center, who wishes to work with EMS by receiving referrals from EMS regarding scene deaths to ensure that donation of organs or tissue can occur when desired by the deceased or their families.

Other business for commissioners will include an update from PlanNorth about the work being done to convert the old ATS Irrigation building at 2509 Highway 105 into a record storage facility.  They will also potentially go out for another round of bids for the EMS District 6 satellite response station at Lake Somerville, after previously rejecting bids at their meeting on February 25th due to lack of response.

A slate of reports will be presented by the sheriff’s office, county and district clerks, justices of the peace, auditor, tax assessor-collector, treasurer, constables, elections, veterans service officer and information technology.

Also on Tuesday, commissioners will consider:

  • Authorizing updated pricing through the OMNIA cooperative purchasing contract for the county’s rental service agreement with Cintas for uniform and workplace services products.  The item was tabled from the court’s meeting on May 13th to give time to attempt to negotiate a shorter-term contract than the traditional five years.
  • Accepting a bid for seal coating.
  • Approving tax-exempt financing for Camp For All Foundation.  Camp For All is financing a new camp to be located on Caney Creek Road in Chappell Hill, and federal tax code requires that in order for the loan to be tax-exempt, the highest elected official of the county must approve the transaction.  The county is not undertaking any financial obligation, and the transaction will not be a debt or liability to the county.
  • Approving a pay rate for sheriff’s deputy.
  • An order of public interest and a plat revision for the Timber Bridge subdivision in Precinct 2.
  • A final plat for the Wonder Hill subdivision, consisting of nine lots along Wonder Hill Road in Precinct 2.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.

  1. Memorial Day will be the 9th anniversary of the 2016 unprecedented flood that made the ATS old building an island or where it possibly flooded too. Is there an emergency plan in place to remove stored information etc. when this flooding is forecasted at a future date?
