LJ’S BBQ NAMED TO TEXAS MONTHLY’S LIST OF TOP 50 BBQ JOINTS

  

LJ’s BBQ in Brenham is once again featured on Texas Monthly’s list of the 50 best barbecue destinations in the state.

Texas Monthly’s write-up released this (Tuesday) morning says LJ’s “exudes small-town charm” and that visitors can expect “plenty of friendly conversation from the pitmasters” as they serve up favorites like “thick slices of pepper-encrusted brisket, meaty St. Louis-cut pork ribs, and a throwback, hot-guts-style sausage with a coarse grind and taut causing.”  It also comments on “handcrafted and satisfying sides” like the mac and cheese.

Pitmasters Corey Cook and Matt Lowery wrote on social media that they are “humbled and honored to be included on this list for the second straight time”, after being recognized back in 2021. 

Cook said there is no shortage of excellent restaurants on the list, so to be considered among the best of the best is a great privilege.   

Lowery said their goal is to keep making great food that keeps people coming back, and the rest will take care of itself.

LJ’s BBQ is located at 1407 West Main Street and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or until sold out.
