BRENHAM GAMECHANGERS ORGANIZING ‘BIG EVENT’ VOLUNTEER SERVICE DAY OCTOBER 4

The Brenham GameChangers organization is bringing the community together this fall for a day of service.

The Big Event on Saturday, October 4th will dedicate the day to service projects across all Brenham ISD campuses.

Volunteers of all ages are invited to take part.  Planned activities will include campus beautification such as gardening, painting and cleanup.  There will also be opportunities for classroom support projects and team projects connecting students with local community partners.

GameChangers President Dr. Heather Thielemann says, “This is more than just a service day—it’s a celebration of what makes Brenham special: people helping people.”

The Big Event started in 1982 at Texas A&M University and has grown to become the biggest one-day, student-led service project in the United States.

Kyle Merten, who serves as President of the Brenham ISD Education Foundation, says an event like this that gets people together in support of schools “really shows the heart of Brenham.”

All supplies will be provided.  Individuals, businesses, churches and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to participate.  Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Dr. Thielemann will share more about the Big Event during the June 17th edition of the Community Corner on KWHI.
