TWO SENTENCED IN 21ST DISTRICT COURT
Two people pleaded guilty and were sentenced this week in 21st District Court before Judge John Winkelmann.
49-year-old Paul Anthony Laughlin of Chappell Hill, probation adjudicated and sentenced to 180 days in the Washington County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, Less Than a Gram, a state jail felony. Laughlin also had his probation adjudicated and was sentenced to 10 years’ probation for Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle, a third degree felony. For that sentence, he must also pay a $500 fine, perform 300 hours of community service, spend 180 days in the Washington County Jail as a condition of probation, successfully complete an intensive outpatient program, submit weekly urinalysis for three months and random urinalysis after that, have a SCRAM device installed on his vehicle or wear an ankle monitor, and cannot change residency without permission from the court.
28-year-old Dandre Bernard Cardell of Brenham, sentenced to 8 years’ deferred adjudication probation for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, 4-200 Grams, a second degree felony. Cardell was also fined $500 and must perform 100 hours of community service and complete a drug offender education program.
