FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS SET FOR BURLESON CO. SHERIFF GENE HERMES

  

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Burleson County Sheriff Gene Hermes, who passed away last week at the age of 59 after a battle with cancer.

Hermes had served as the sheriff of Burleson County since March 2020.  His law enforcement career included time with the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Caldwell Police Department.  He was also a volunteer with the Caldwell Fire Department and served as Caldwell’s fire marshal.

Visitation will take place tomorrow (Thursday) from 4 to 8 p.m. at Burleson County Cowboy Church, south of Caldwell.  The funeral service will be held at the church on Friday at 10 a.m.

Burleson County is making preparations to appoint an interim sheriff, who will serve until a special election is held.  The county is accepting applications until 4 p.m. on Friday, and county commissioners plan to interview candidates starting next week.
