BURTON PANTHER SELECTED TO 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM
As the Baseball State Championships wrap up, the All-Tournament Teams have been announced and Burton Panthers junior Ryder Biggs earned a well-deserved spot at third base on the 2A team.
Although Burton’s season concluded in the State Semifinals, the accolades continue to roll in.
Head Coach Matt Thaler had high praise for Biggs, highlighting his leadership and versatility. “Ryder led by example,” Thaler said. “He brought energy at the plate and stepped up defensively wherever we needed him, whether it was third base, shortstop, or even on the mound.”
Biggs played a crucial role in Burton’s deep playoff run, showcasing his defensive skills across the field. While he anchored third base, his reliability at shortstop and on the pitcher’s mound proved just as valuable.
At the plate, Biggs was equally impactful. Batting third in the lineup, he was a consistent offensive force. In the series against Overton alone, he hit .500 with five runs scored and two RBIs, collecting two singles, a double, and two triples. He finished the playoffs with an impressive .368 batting average, scoring 16 runs and driving in 10 on nine singles, three doubles, and two triples.
This All-Tournament honor is a fitting capstone to an outstanding junior season. With his confidence soaring, Ryder Biggs will enter his senior year ready to lead the Panthers on another promising playoff run.
As the Grandmother of Ryder Biggs (LilBiggs), and living in Arizona, I would like to thank KWHI for broadcasting the playoff games of the Burton Panthers. Last year we were able to travel to Texas and see several games and watch Big Biggs and Lil Biggs play. Because of some health issues, we’re weren’t able to do that this year. We so enjoyed listening to the playoff games this year thanks to your radio station willingly being there and offering such insightful commentaries on the whole Burton Panther’s team.
