WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS APPROVE BOND PAYMENT FOR CARLI KOEHNE AS INTERIM DISTRICT CLERK

Washington County Commissioners approved the bond payment for an interim district clerk at a brief meeting today (Tuesday).

Carli Koehne

Carli Koehne was selected by 21st District Judge Carson Campbell to serve as the interim district clerk and has accepted the offer to fill the position.

Koehne, who has served as the executive administrative assistant in the county judge’s office since 2019, replaces Kimberley Boyce after her resignation on May 20th.  No explanation has been provided regarding the reason for Boyce’s departure.

Boyce ran unopposed in the November 2024 election to fill the unexpired term of the late Tammy Brauner, who resigned in May 2024.  Brauner’s term began in January 2023 and continues through 2026.

Commissioner Kirk Hanath thanked Koehne for her service to the commissioners court and wished her well in her future endeavors.  Koehne said she is excited and looking forward to this new role.

Also at today’s meeting, the court:

  • Approved a private tax resale offer on account number 14095, pursuant to Texas Property Tax Code Section 34.05.  Leslie Schkade of Perdue Brandon Fielder Collins & Mott said the property has been in the tax trust since 2017 and consists of roughly 4.56 landlocked acres adjoining U.S. Army Corps of Engineers land at Lake Somerville.  The full bid on the property was $4,384.92, but after court costs of $1,001 and post judgment of $2,104.92, the net to distribute comes out to $1,279.  Of that, Burton ISD is receiving $997.62, Washington County is getting $243.01, and Blinn College is obtaining $38.37.  With this, the property will go back onto the tax roll.
  • Permitted the county auditor to solicit a request for qualifications for outside audit services.  Submissions will be due in the county clerk’s office by 10 a.m. on July 10th.  A recommendation will be brought back to the commissioners court for consideration and selection at a later date.
  • Discussed a formal notice from PGMS for a new service line installation across the county right-of-way of Brauner Road in Precinct 2.  No action was needed.
  • Discussed a formal notice from ET Gathering and Processing LLC for a natural gas pipeline across the county right-of-way of Homeyer Mountain Road in Precinct 4.  No action was necessary.

Commissioners will meet again tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. in the Washington County Expo Sales Facility for strategic planning discussion.
