A Bedias man has received five life sentences for the possession of child pornography and sexual abuse of a child.

Taggert Thomason
(Grimes Co. Jail)

Taggert Thomason was handed down five “stacked life sentences” at a hearing on Wednesday.

The case began in November 2023, when an undercover Montgomery County detective assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Division received three videos of child pornography from Thomason.

A search warrant was executed at Thomason’s home and his cell phone was seized.  According to the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, data from the phone included over 150 videos of child pornography, with some videos depicting young children being sexually assaulted.

Thomason was indicted in December 2023 by a Grimes County Grand Jury for 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.  He pleaded guilty in February to five of those 10 counts and requested a sentencing hearing before 12th District Judge David Moorman.

The DA’s office said testimonial evidence from the trial revealed that Thomason had been violent and sexually abusive toward multiple children.  Thomason, under cross examination, admitted to sexually abusing one juvenile male.

Grimes County Assistant District Attorney Meagan Ghormley said the videos recovered in this case “were the most disturbing child pornography the investigators working the case have come across.”  Ghormley said, “He is a pedophile and he should remain in custody for the safety of the community for the remainder of his life.”
