BURTON ISD RANKS 17TH OF ALL 2A SCHOOLS IN UIL LONE STAR CUP STANDINGS
Burton ISD has placed among the top 2A schools in Texas in the UIL Lone Star Cup.
Burton finished tied for 17th in the standings out of 219 schools that were ranked.
The Lone Star Cup recognizes overall excellence across academics, athletics, fine arts and extracurricular activities. Points are earned based on district and state-level performance in competitions such as athletic playoffs, academic UIL events, band and one-act play contests, speech and debate, state championships and team finishes.
Superintendent Vikki Curry said ranking among the top 20 2A schools in the state is “a huge accomplishment and a testament to the well-rounded strength of our district.” She said, “This wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and talent of our students, the tireless efforts of our teachers, coaches, and directors, and the support of our families and community.”
Curry said through continued collaboration, focused support for programs and Burton Panther pride, the district’s goal is to move even higher in the rankings, with its sights set on breaking into the top 10.
Other notable Lone Star Cup finishes for schools around the area include:
