WAYS TO SUPPORT HILL COUNTRY FLOOD RELIEF EFFORTS
As recovery efforts continue after deadly flooding in Central Texas, local initiatives have been created to provide aid to the victims.
Numerous FFA chapters around the region have organized gift card drives, including in Brenham, Burton, Round Top-Carmine, Bellville, Sealy, La Grange, Navasota, Hempstead and Waller.
Gift cards are requested for locations like Walmart, H-E-B, Lowe’s and Home Depot. Generic Visa/Mastercard gift cards will also be accepted.
Gift cards will be sent to Ingram ag teachers. They can also be mailed directly to Ingram FFA, 4670 Goat Creek Road, Kerrville, Texas 78028.
Faith Mission in Brenham will soon open its Neighbors Helping Neighbors accounts at local banks. The accounts will be open to anyone wishing to contribute monetary aid to the relief efforts.
First United Methodist Church in Brenham is accepting disaster relief monetary donations and will be sending them out every Thursday until further notice. Donations can be brought to the church office at 408 North Baylor Street.
Other opportunities are available for financial and volunteer assistance.
The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country has opened the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, where all donations will go directly to organizations involved in the local response.
The Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce has established the Kerrville Area Rebuilding and Recovery Fund to support immediate and long-term rebuilding efforts.
The Texas Division of Emergency Management’s Texas Community Recovery page is available for people who are interested in volunteering. A reception center is located at 855 Hays Street in Kerrville and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers are urged to not interfere with first responders and professional personnel as they conduct their operations.
If you can just take a little time out and pray for the families that lost so much and pray for the safety of those involved with the rescue and recovery. There is no greater purpose than to serve our Lord. Thank you very much.
