WASHINGTON COUNTY MINOR SOFTBALL HEADS TO STATE TOURNAMENT AFTER DOMINANT RUN
Washington County’s impressive run in Little League All-Stars Minor Softball continues this weekend as the team heads to Rosenberg for the state tournament. They’ll take on East End in Game 1 of the double-elimination bracket tonight, Friday, July 11, at 6:00 p.m.
The road to state has been nothing short of dominant. Washington County breezed through District 13 play, tossing two no-hitters along the way. Their only stumble came in the championship round, falling to Columbus but they bounced back in commanding fashion. After jumping out to a 9-0 lead in the rematch, they sealed the District 13 title with a 10-5 victory and advanced to the sectional tournament.
In sectionals, Washington County’s momentum never slowed. Facing Smithville in a best-of-three series, they swept in two games, thanks to back-to-back no-hitter shutouts by Kinsley Haferkamp and Lillie Landua. The team won Game 1, 8-0, and Game 2, 11-0, clinching the sectional championship and punching their ticket to the state tournament.
Now, Washington County sets its sights on a state title as they begin their campaign tonight.
