BURTON GOING INTO STAGE 4 DROUGHT PLAN AUG. 4-8
The City of Burton is enacting Stage 4 of its Drought Contingency Plan, effective Monday.
Burton Mayor Karen Buck says drilling of the city’s new water well is moving into a new stage of development, so the city is asking residents to limit water usage starting Monday, August 4th through Friday, August 8th.
Only hand-held hoses, hand-held buckets and drip irrigation can be used to water flower beds and gardens. The use of hose-end yard sprinklers or permanently-installed automatic sprinkler systems is prohibited.
The drought measures also prohibit the washing of any motor vehicle; adding water to swimming pools, wading pools and Jacuzzi-type pools; operating ornamental fountains; watering city parks; and power-washing buildings, sidewalks, gutters or other hard surfaces.
Residents are asked to take care of their water needs this weekend in preparation for the coming week.
The Burton City Council recently approved the purchase of an emergency alarm system, which Buck says will assist the city with keeping track of its water system levels. She says the item has been ordered and will be installed as soon as possible.
Residents will receive notification about the water conservation effort via phone or email, and they will receive a reminder notice Monday morning.
