BRENHAM CUBS PREVIEW 2025 SEASON ON KWHI SPORTS LINE
With the 2025 high school football season on the horizon, Brenham Cubs head coach Danny Youngs joined the KWHI Sports Line in studio Monday to preview what’s shaping up to be a highly anticipated campaign. He was accompanied by key leaders: running back JaKoby Dixon, offensive guard Andre Mojica, defensive end Mason Seeber, and linebacker Caleb Espinoza.
Coming off a 9-1 regular season in 2024 and a deep playoff run that ended with a loss to eventual state champion Randle, the Cubs enter the new season laser-focused and fueled by unfinished business. When asked which game he’s most looking forward to, Dixon didn’t hesitate responding, “Whatever date the Jerry World game is,” in reference to the state championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
That mindset is echoed throughout the locker room, where the message is clear: preparation and hard work are the foundation of championship goals. With nine returning starters on offense and eight on defense, the Cubs boast one of the most experienced and battle-tested rosters in recent memory.
Brenham’s preseason schedule is packed with community engagement and on-field action. It starts with the "Meet the Cubs" event on Wednesday, August 20, where the public can meet the football team as well as other fall sports programs. The first live competition follows on Thursday, August 21, as the Cubs travel to Rattler Stadium in Navasota for a scrimmage against the Rattlers at 7:00 p.m.
The week wraps up with the Cubs Football Banquet on Saturday, an annual event celebrating the program and building excitement for the season. Tables and tickets are still available through the team’s official Facebook page.

With high expectations, a veteran core, and eyes on Arlington, the Cubs are ready to write their next chapter.
