NO INJURIES AFTER DUPLEX FIRE IN BRENHAM

Multiple Washington County fire departments responded Wednesday evening to a duplex fire.

Members of the Brenham Fire Department and the Chappell Hill, Salem and Meyersville Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched shortly before 6:45 p.m. to a structure fire in the 200 block of Rippetoe Street in Brenham.

The Brenham Fire Department reported that nothing was showing from the exterior, but upon entering, they found that the residence was a duplex, and there was heavy fire damage throughout the back apartment.

Firefighters used a water can to extinguish the hot spots and removed some sheetrock to check for fire extension, but no extension was found.  No injuries were reported.

After ventilating the residence, all units returned to service.

The Brenham Fire Department responded to two other calls on Wednesday.

At 1:15 p.m., firefighters were called out to a transportation incident in the 800 block of Highway 290 East.  There, they found both vehicles that were involved had pulled into the parking lot.  The department checked for injuries and fluids leaking, but found none.

Another transportation incident was reported around 10:45 p.m. in the 300 block of West Main Street.  BFD members found a single-vehicle accident with the driver walking around.  No one was injured, and the vehicle was already off of the roadway.
