BURTON WATER WELL TESTING COMPLETE, RESTRICTIONS LIFTED
Burton residents and businesses can return to using water as normal, as the city has completed its 36-hour testing period for its new water well and the follow-up recovery period.
Burton Mayor Karen Buck said in a notice on Sunday that the city’s engineer and utility contractor have given the “all clear” to resume regular water usage. The city’s existing well had to be shut off for 36 hours over the weekend in order to perform testing at the new well.
Buck thanked all water customers for their conservation efforts and their patience during the testing period. She also thanked the city’s utility contractor and utility manager for their regular monitoring of water levels and communication about updates.
The next step for the new well will be to install the electrical system, control system, and disinfection and chemical injection equipment. Buck said these will allow the new well to begin operating, connect it to the existing water system and make the water safe to drink.
Construction crews will be on site over the course of the next several months to complete the work.
