BRENHAM HERITAGE MUSEUM TO HOST TRAVELING SAM HOUSTON EXHIBIT
The Brenham Heritage Museum is preparing to host a traveling exhibit focused on a larger-than-life figure in Texas and American history.
Beginning on Wednesday, the museum will present “Sam Houston: Texas Icon”, an exhibition produced by Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It will be available to the public at the Post Office museum building at 105 South Market Street until November 1st.
“Sam Houston: Texas Icon” traces the life and career of Houston, from his boyhood in Virginia and Tennessee through his retirement and eventual passing in Huntsville. It covers his role in the Texas Revolution, the Republic of Texas, annexation and early statehood, and the state’s secession from the Union in 1861.
The exhibition is made possible in part by funding from the Summerlee Foundation.
Admission to the museum is $5 for non-members and free for members and children 12 and under. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. To learn more about the museum, go to https://brenhamheritagemuseum.org.
Humanities Texas develops and supports diverse programs across the state, including lectures, oral history projects, teacher institutes, museum exhibitions, and documentary films. For more information, visit https://humanitiestexas.org.
