In a significant development for Texas high school football, KWHI Sports has confirmed that standout running back JaKoby Dixon has transferred to The John Cooper School in The Woodlands, Texas, marking a new chapter in his promising career. Just one week after parting ways with the Brenham Cubs, the junior has found a new home with the Dragons in the SPC-4A conference. Dixon confirmed the decision with a post on Instagram.

Dixon leaves Brenham after a stellar sophomore season in 2024, where he rushed for an impressive 2,248 yards and 32 touchdowns, averaging 9.1 yards per carry. His career total with the Cubs stands at 3,429 rushing yards, placing him third on Brenham’s all-time career rushing list and fourth for a single season. His exceptional performance earned him unanimous District 10-5A MVP honors, a first-team All-State selection by the Blue Bell/TSWA, and a first-team All-Brazos Valley nod. Dixon was also named the Class 5A Preseason Offensive Player of the Year by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, which projected him as a frontrunner for the overall Class 5A Player of the Year in 2025.

Now, Dixon joins a John Cooper Dragons program looking to rebound from a challenging 1-9 season in 2024 that saw them miss the SPC-4A playoffs.

The transfer places Dixon in the spotlight of the private school SPC-4A conference. According to 247Sports, Dixon currently holds 18 Division I college offers, including powerhouse programs like Texas, Texas A&M, and TCU, underscoring his status as one of the nation’s top prospects in the Class of 2027. His social media activity reflects this, with recent posts highlighting his 24 college offers, signaling his focus on the next level.
