TWO ACCIDENTS AMONG FIVE CALLS WEDNESDAY FOR BRENHAM FIRE DEPT.

The Brenham Fire Department was called out five times on Wednesday.

Around 12:45 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a report of a transportation incident in the 3500 block of Old Chappell Hill Road.  They found a single vehicle on its side and, with the help of constables, removed the patient from the vehicle.  No fluids were leaking.

At 3 p.m., BFD members responded to a home in the 800 block of Brown Street for a gas smell.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the home, and no readings were found after using the gas detector, so the scene was turned over to the City of Brenham Gas Department.

At 3:45 p.m., a grass fire was called in from the 300 block of South Austin Street.  The department found about a 30x30 grass fire and used tank water to extinguish the fire.

Just past 5 p.m., personnel went out to the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South, for a fire alarm.  They found nothing showing from the exterior of the building and discovered that a resident had pulled the alarm, so the alarm was reset.

Close to 8:15 p.m., units were sent out for a transportation incident in the 2100 block of Highway 290 West.  They found a single vehicle had hit a light pole and assisted EMS with patient care.  No fluids were leaking from the vehicle.
