Zwiener announced in a release today (Monday) that he will retire from the bench at the end of his fifth term next year, after 20 years of service in the position.  He was first elected to office in 2006.

Zwiener said after serving alongside three county judges, several district and county court at law judges and numerous commissioners, he feels it is “time to let someone else take the reins.”

Zwiener said he is thankful to his family for their support through five elections, as well as to his chief court clerk, Beth Schramm, for her 30 years of experience in keeping the justice of the peace office running smoothly. He also thanked all of the county employees and elected officials he has worked with to serve the public.

Zwiener added that he looks forward to the free time he will have to work around his home and said he will have plenty to keep him busy.
