WASHINGTON CO. FAIR JUNIOR LIVESTOCK AUCTION BREAKS TOTAL SALE RECORD

  

The Washington County Fair’s Junior Livestock Auction on Friday shattered the existing record for overall sales.

Unofficially, the 260 lots in the auction sold for a total of $1,507,828.  Last year’s record came in at over $1.3 million. 

One new individual sale record was set in the Grand Champion lots.  Altogether, the Grand and Reserve Champions sold for $131,500, made up of $71,000 for Grand Champions and $60,500 for Reserve Champions.

Today (Saturday) wraps up fair activities with the livestock judging contest at 8:15 a.m., little wrangler hay hauling at 9 a.m., and the pet show and country creations superior auction at 10 a.m.  The commercial steer sale begins at 1 p.m., the colt sale at 2 p.m. and the commercial heifer sale at 2:30 p.m.

The carnival opens at 1 p.m.  The afternoon will also feature the hay hauling and greased pig contests at 6 p.m., mutton bustin’ at 6:30 p.m., and the rodeo with a calf scramble and wild steer saddling at 7:30 p.m. 

The day closes out with music from Glen Templeton at 8:30 p.m. and Gary Allan at 10:30 p.m.

KWHI will have live reports from the fair from 8 to 10 a.m., while KTEX-106 will be reporting live from 8 to 10 p.m. and introducing the performers.
