BURTON’S DEE WINTERS NOW A STARTER WITH 49ERS

Patience pays off.

Former Burton Panther Dee Winters has been waiting for his opportunity to be a starter in the NFL, and this season, he is getting that chance with the San Francisco 49ers.

After a great college career where he helped lead TCU to the National Championship game in 2023, Winters was drafted in the sixth round by the 49ers.

Following two seasons as a backup, Winters worked his way into the San Francisco starting linebacker crew, where he is joined by Fred Warner and Luke Gifford.

The 49ers are off to a 3-0 start to the season.

In the first game against the Seattle Seahawks, Winters had five solo tackles and one assist. In week two against the New Orleans Saints, Winters finished with six solo tackles and two assists. In third game, yesterday (Sunday) against the Arizona Cardinals, Winters had four solo tackles and four assists.

That gives him a season total thus far of 22 total tackles, 15 solo, and seven assists.

Next up, Winters and the 49ers will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at 3:05pm.
