TOWN HALL MONDAY FOR BRENHAM ISD TAX RATE, BOND ELECTIONS

The first of two town hall meetings regarding Brenham ISD’s two voter propositions in the November election is tonight (Monday).

The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center and is hosted by Citizens Uniting Brenham Schools, a group of public supporters for Brenham ISD who are dedicated to transparency and improvement for the district.

Voters who attend the town hall can learn more about the voter approval tax rate election (VATRE) and the $39 million bond measure that will be listed on the November ballot.

The VATRE proposes to increase the property tax rate for the purpose of adding operational funding that would go toward teacher and staff pay raises and additional teaching positions.  The $39 million bond proposition seeks to address capital maintenance and improvement projects without raising the tax rate.

Representatives from Brenham ISD will be available to offer additional information and answer questions.

The Brenham School Board called the two elections during its regular meeting in August, after the district’s strategic planning committee presented recommendations to proceed with the items.

KWHI will broadcast tonight’s town hall on AM 1280, FM 101.7 and kwhi.com.

A second town hall will take place on Thursday, October 9th at 6 p.m. at the Washington County Expo.

Further information about the election proposals can be seen at https://brenhamisd.net
