BRENHAM CUB FOOTBALL HALL OF HONOR TO INDUCT FOUR ALUMNI

The Brenham High School Football Hall of Honor will welcome four exceptional former athletes as its newest members.

The inductees include Donyell Jones, Michael Walker, Ty Schlottmann and Malcom Brown, who will be honored at an annual luncheon.

The induction ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, in the Janis Sneed Banquet Room at the Blinn College Student Center in Brenham.

Tickets are priced at $35 and can be purchased at Brenham National Bank, Bank of Brenham, and the Brenham schools administration and athletic offices. Hall of Honor committee members also have tickets available.

The Hall of Honor committee members are Michael Groves, Jarvis Van Dyke, Jerry Newman, Randy Weidemann, Derek Hall, DeWayne Burnett, Robert Stark, Michael Watts, Chad Lechler, and Brenham High School head football coach Danny Youngs.

The honorees will also be recognized during that evening's Cub football game against Belton High School at Cub Stadium.

Donyell Jones

Donyell Jones
Jones, a two-sport athlete, was a key player in the Cubs’ backfield for three seasons.
The 2002 Brenham graduate accumulated a total of 1,304 rushing yards during his sophomore and junior years. He had a standout senior season in 2001, finishing with 1,921 yards, the fourth-best rushing performance in Cubs history. His performance earned him a spot on the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State Team.
Jones currently ranks fourth on the all-time Brenham rushing leader list with a total of 3,225 yards.
Known for being a powerful and punishing runner with exceptional speed, Jones had an impressive 2002 season at Blinn College before transferring to the University of Central Oklahoma.
He currently resides in Tyler, Texas.

Michael Walker

Michael Walker

Walker, a two-year letterman and 2010 graduate, played both linebacker and running back for the Cubs. His versatility and physicality stood out immediately as former KWHI sports director Ed Pothul nicknamed him, “The Assassin.”
As a junior, he earned the title of District 18-4A defensive newcomer of the year after finishing as the team's second-leading tackler with 133 tackles and a team-leading six sacks. He also forced three fumbles, recovered three fumbles, and intercepted a pass.
During his senior year, Walker became one of the state’s most feared defenders, racking up 130 tackles and an astonishing 38 tackles for loss. His dominance earned him District 18-4A Defensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Brazos Valley honors, and Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State Team, while helping lead Brenham to the 2009 state championship game.
After high school, Walker played football at the University of Utah, where he participated in 45 games with 14 starts throughout his career, beginning as a true freshman. Initially, he played primarily on special teams for the first three seasons before taking on a starting role at strong safety in 2013. By the end of his Ute career, Walker had recorded 97 tackles, one sack, and one interception.
Walker owns and operates Fast Lane 365, LLC.
Outside of work, he is a dedicated father to his six-year-old daughter and an active member of his community. He volunteers his time helping train youth in football, sharing skills and discipline gained from his own athletic background. Walker enjoys spending quality time with family and friends and continues to pursue personal and professional growth both on and off the road.

Ty Schlottmann

Ty Schlottmann

A 2011 Brenham graduate, Schlottmann was a three-year quarterback for the Cubs and was also a member of the 2009 state champion baseball team.
He came off the bench in his sophomore year and led the Cubs to a deep playoff run in 2008. His junior year, he helped guide the team to the Class 4A Division II state finals for the second time in school history, and in his senior year, he quarterbacked the team to a perfect 10-0 regular season. During his senior season, Schlottmann was also named as the District 17-4A MVP.
Schlottmann ranks second in all-time passing yards for the Cubs, throwing for 4,958 yards with 57 touchdowns on 393 completions from 2008 to 2010. During his time as quarterback, the Cubs achieved an impressive 30-6 record.
Following high school, Schlottmann went on to pitch for Texas A&M.
He currently works as a business development manager for a commercial general contractor in the Fort Worth, Texas area where he resides with his wife, Jessica, and their two children, Nora and Eli.

Malcom Brown

Malcom Brown

Brown, a graduate of 2012, was a three-sport athlete for Brenham playing football, basketball, and track for the Cubs.
A three-year starter, he played on both sides of the ball for the Cubs football team. He accumulated 125 tackles, 66 tackles for loss, 91 quarterback hits, and 24 sacks on the defensive side and recorded 159 yards on 10 catches for three touchdowns as a tight end his senior year during his high school career, with the team posting a 34-5 overall record.
Brown was an All-American, two-time all-state, and three-time all-district performer on the defensive line. He was recognized as a five-star recruit by Rivals.com, ranking as the fifth-best defensive tackle and the 26th-best overall player in his class. Brown was also selected to participate in the 2012 Under Armour All-America Game and the International Bowl. His senior year, Brown was named a preseason first-team selection on Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Super Team; first-team All-Texas High School by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football; and earned the District 17-4A MVP designation. He also received the District 17-4A Defensive MVP award during his junior season.
After high school, Brown attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he played in all 13 games as a true freshman in 2012, recording 25 tackles. He became a starter his sophomore year, starting all 13 games and finishing with 68 tackles and two sacks, earning the team's Joseph W. Moore Tenacity Award for Defense. Brown continued as a starter during his junior season, concluding the year with 70 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks. He was named a first-team All-Big 12 selection and received consensus All-American honors, also being recognized as a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Outland Trophy. Brown led the Longhorns in tackles for loss, sacks, and forced fumbles that year. He ultimately decided to forgo his senior season to declare for the 2015 NFL Draft.
He was selected in the first round as the 32nd overall pick by the New England Patriots.
During his seven-year NFL career, Brown won two Super Bowl championships with the New England Patriots. He also played for the New Orleans Saints and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Throughout his career, he participated in a total of 120 games, including postseason appearances, and recorded 342 combined tackles, 15 sacks, and one safety.
Currently, he is the head football coach at St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School in Austin.
