CITIZENS RALLY AT ‘NO KINGS’ PROTEST IN BRENHAM

Crowds gathered in Brenham on Saturday as part of the nationwide “No Kings” protests.

The demonstration, held in opposition to the policies of the Trump administration, occurred in front of the businesses located at Highway 36 South where it meets Highway 290 East.  According to organizers, around 175 people attended, many of them waving flags and carrying signs.

One demonstrator, Sam Lehmann, said he believes President Donald Trump is overstepping bounds with his decisions.

Among those in attendance was Texas Democratic Party Chair Kendall Scudder, who spent Saturday traveling to “No Kings” gatherings around the region.  He said the turnout seen at these events shows that many people are “sick and tired” of today’s affairs.

The “No Kings” protest that was held in June had a group of counter-protestors in attendance.  There was not an organized group at Saturday’s event, which, along with the June protest, remained peaceful.

Saturday’s event was led by the Democratic Women of Brenham, and was one of thousands held across the nation.
