The Texas Arts and Music Festival marked a decade in downtown Brenham this weekend.

Thousands of people came between Friday and Sunday to enjoy shopping at vendors, live art exhibitions and entertainment from high-energy performers.
Texas Arts and Music Festival Board President Mark Rosenbaum says the support shown by the community over the past 10 years has allowed the festival to thrive and become a staple of downtown.
The festival brought two new murals to downtown, including a wildlife mural by Candy Kuo of Austin on the south wall of the Commerce Street parking lot, and a western-themed mural by Brenham’s own Stephen Henry on the side of the Co-op on Commerce building. There are also smaller koi fish installations created by Jeremy Novy out of San Francisco.
Guests were also able to visit a juried art show and art auction, shop from young entrepreneurs at a children’s business fair, and listen to music by the Brenham Children’s Chorus, Willow Creek Junction, Shekere and Shinyribs.
The Texas Arts and Music Festival, held every third weekend in October, donates proceeds each year toward supporting educational resources for local school art and music programs.
