Joe Fauth (Grimes County)

Grimes County Judge Joe Fauth has been appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.

Fauth’s term will be for six years, ending on January 31, 2031.

The appointment was announced on Monday.

The commission is in charge of establishing standards for the care and treatment of county prisoners.

They also oversee the guidelines for the construction, maintenance, and operations of county jails.

Fauth has been Grimes County Judge since 2017, when he was appointed to fill the remainder of Ben Leman’s term after Leman resigned in order to run for State Representative.

Fauth, a Republican, was elected to a full term in 2018, and then re-elected in 2022.

He is also vice chairman for Counseling Creations, a board member at-large for the National Association of Regional Councils, and a past chairman of the Brazos Valley Council of Governments.
