BRENHAM POLICE MAKE ARRESTS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT, MARIJUANA POSSESSION

  

Brenham police made two arrests on Tuesday for marijuana possession and one early this (Wednesday) morning for sexual assault.

Shortly after 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Ronnie Jackson conducted a traffic stop for a license plate violation in the 2100 block of Highway 290 West.  Officer Jackson detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.  A probable cause search was conducted, and police reportedly located narcotics and a loaded firearm inside the vehicle.  The driver, identified as 39-year-old Leonard Campbell Jr. of Houston, along with the passenger, 26-year-old Amy Jones of Oklahoma, were placed into custody.  Both were charged with Possession of Marijuana Under oz., with Campbell also charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

At 4:45 a.m. today, Officer Gabriel Duran responded to the 1200 block of Independence Street in reference to a warrant service.  24-year-old Quavies Tavion Andrews of Brenham was charged with Sexual Assault, which police say stems from an investigation that began in September.  Police have not released further details about the investigation.
