Representatives from Habitat for Humanity and the City of Brenham held a dedication ceremony on Saturday for the new home of Lisa Crawford on Hosea Street.  The Crawfords are Habitat for Humanity’s 13th homeowners in Washington County.

Crawford, who first applied through the program in February 2021, has lived in public housing for over 14 years.  She said she is grateful to Habitat for Humanity for helping her family’s dreams become possible, and that her son and daughter look forward to decorating their rooms and having sleepovers with friends.

Construction on the three-bedroom, two-bathroom house began in the summer and had involvement from numerous groups.  Bryan Best, board president on the BCS Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, thanked the many different sponsors, donors, vendors, suppliers, contractors, volunteers and City of Brenham staff members who assisted during the various stages of the project.

Brenham Mayor Atwood Kenjura said he hopes the city can be a part of many more projects like this.

The home is being paid through a 30-year, interest-free mortgage.
