BLINN LIVESTOCK JUDGING TEAM PLACES FOUR INDIVIDUALS IN TOP 10 AT SOUTHERN STOCKMAN
The Blinn College livestock judging team earned strong individual honors at the Southern Stockman contest held Saturday at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, with four Buccaneers finishing among the top 10.
In the sophomore division, Paige Zimprich placed third overall, followed by Luke Domingue in fourth, Jenna Lindig in eighth, and Carolyn Turner in 10th. The event featured only individual rankings, with no team competition.
Zimprich placed sixth in reasons and third in sheep/goats. Domingue earned ninth in both reasons and sheep/goats. Lindig finished eighth in reasons, cattle, and swine, while Turner was the high individual in both reasons and cattle.
Additional top finishes for Blinn included Ryleigh Gilfoil, who placed fourth in reasons and third in swine; Jhett West, who was the high individual in swine and ninth in cattle; Nathan Oakes, who finished fifth in swine; and Sage Schenk, who placed ninth in swine.
In the freshman competition, Blinn also posted strong results, with four individuals placing in the top 10. Sarah Craun led the way in sixth place overall, followed by Braxley Brezina in eighth, Tatum Bales in ninth, and Carter Aucoin in 10th.
Craun was the high individual in both reasons and cattle and placed fifth in swine. Brezina finished ninth in cattle. Bales earned second in reasons and cattle and seventh in swine, while Aucoin placed eighth in cattle. Dade DeLozier placed eighth in swine, and Colton Mullins finished sixth in sheep/goats.
Blinn’s next competition will be the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky, on Nov. 17.
Blinn’s Agricultural Sciences Program has one of the most active extracurricular programs in the state, including livestock judging, Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, and horticulture. Blinn offers agriculture classes on all its campuses, with the W.J. “Bill” Rankin Agricultural Complex on the Brenham Campus serving as the program’s hub.
