Events on Tuesday, November 11th begin with a Veterans Day breakfast provided by James F. Dillon VFW Post 7104, located at 1200 East Tom Green Street in Brenham.  Doors open at 6 a.m., and a brief program will precede the breakfast at 7 a.m.  All veterans and their guests are invited.

At 11 a.m., the Washington County Veterans Association will start its program at American Legion Post 48, located at 903 North Park Street in Brenham.  The free program will recognize local veterans and include words from several local dignitaries.

The keynote speaker will be retired Colonel Mark McClelland, who served for nearly four decades in the Air Force Reserves.  He first enlisted in 1972 and retired in 2009.  In civilian life, he held office as tax assessor-collector in Liberty County from 1989 to 2011.

After the program, a barbecue chicken and pork sausage meal will be served via dine-in and drive-thru.  Meal tickets are $15 and are available through today (Thursday) at Dan’s Meat Market, Felder’s Buy & Bye, K&M Grocery, Quick Mart and Robert’s Service Station.  They can also be purchased from local veterans.
