FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING A SHOOTING

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that was reported on Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 1:45 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence in the Clear Lake Pines Subdivision near the community of Winchester after a homeowner reported a severely injured male on her front porch.

Deputies Wesly Arrison and Joe Gonzales arrived and located a male victim, who was covered in blood and suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim is not being identified at this time.

After the discovery, an investigation was conducted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and The Texas Rangers.

According to Sheriff Keith Korenek, evidence and investigative leads identified 20-year-old Norman Robert Hicks as the suspect in the shooting. Investigators determined that Hicks also resided within the Subdivision.

On Friday, Investigators from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Austin County Special Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Subdivision. The suspect was not located at his residence.

Officers then responded to another location in Winchester, where the suspect was found and taken into custody.

Hicks is being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Robbery, and Tampering with Physical Evidence
