BRENHAM COMMUNITY SENDS CUB BAND OFF TO STATE
For the first time in 14 years, the Brenham Cub Band is headed off to state.
Family members and Brenham ISD supporters gathered this (Monday) morning across town for a send-off for the Cub Band, as it travels to the Alamodome in San Antonio for the UIL State Marching Contest. The send-off departed from Cub Stadium and wound its way through Brenham and by several Brenham ISD campuses.
Band Director Eric Rettig says Brenham’s status as a small 5A school means it will be going up against much larger schools from across Texas. He appreciates all of the support shown by the community and says regardless of the results, the Cub Band is doing something extraordinary.
Among those wishing the band luck today were Bob and Patsy Schubert, who say they are very proud of their granddaughter and all of the band members for their hard work and dedication.”
A total of 38 bands will compete in today’s contest, with 12 advancing to the finals tomorrow (Tuesday). Brenham’s performance today is at 5:30 p.m.
