BRENHAM MAN ARRESTED FOR ST. MARY’S BURGLARY
Brenham Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the burglary of St. Mary’s Catholic Church that occurred on Friday.
Officer Ronnie Jackson, Officer Trinten Rolling, and Sgt. Tiffany Anderson were dispatched at 6:45 a.m. to the 400 block of West Alamo Street in response to a welfare concern.
Police found the subject in question, 46-year-old Cesar Ramirez-Olea of Brenham. Ramirez gave consent to search his person, and narcotics were discovered.
After checking with the dispatch, Officer Jackson was advised that Ramirez also had an active warrant out of the Brenham Municipal Court for Theft.
Ramirez was first taken to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Brenham for medical treatment. He was then arrested and taken to the Washington County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, less than 1 gram, and for the theft warrant.
A little less than an hour later, Officer Rolling was dispatched to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the 700 block of Church Street in reference to suspicious activity.
The church had suffered substantial damage, and it was determined that a break-in had occurred.
A further investigation was able to link Ramirez to the case.
While in jail, Brenham Police Detective Nicholas Pfeffer served Ramirez with two additional warrants; one for Criminal Mischief Damage/Destroy Worship, and the other for Burglary of a Building.
The total amount of bonds set for Ramirez was $47,916.
According to the Washington County Jail website, there is an additional hold on him for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
