BURTON CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS RULES FOR PARKING RVs, TRAILERS
The Burton City Council will gather for its November meeting on Wednesday, a day later than normal due to the Veterans Day holiday.
Two discussion-only items will be among the council’s business. One is regarding an ordinance regulating the parking, storage and use of recreational vehicles, utility trailers and livestock transport trailers of property owners within the city. The other topic concerns a potential agreement – the nature of which is not listed on the meeting agenda – between the city and Burton Veterinary Clinic.
In action items, councilmembers will revisit an ordinance providing for specific exemptions to permitting fees as described in the occupational licenses and business regulations ordinance of 2001.
The matter was discussed during the council’s October meeting, with City Secretary Angela Harrington saying at the time that the permit fees originally helped cover the city’s cost of providing security at events, but the city no longer provides security. Action was tabled to allow for further clarification on the organizations that could be exempt from fees.
Additionally, the council will act on paying a portion of the cost of four or more Plasticade break-away barricades for local Cotton Gin, Chamber of Commerce and city events. The council will also take up resolutions adopting the Washington County Hazard Mitigation Plan and providing for votes allocated for electing members of the Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors, as well as a proclamation declaring November 29th as Small Business Saturday.
The council will meet Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Burton City Hall.
