WASHINGTON CO. YOUTH REACH NEW HEIGHTS AT AVIATION RALLY
Children around Washington County got to experience the thrill of flight on Saturday during the 2nd Annual Brenham Youth Aviation Rally at the Brenham Municipal Airport.

Through a partnership between a group of private pilots and the local youth ministry, Brenham NEXT, approximately 80 children ages 7-18 were able to step into the seat of a plane, put on the pilot’s headset and take a 10-minute flight around Brenham.
Craig Norman, who helped spearhead the event, said it is all about exposing future generations to aviation.

Brenham NEXT Executive Director Shelby Smith said the organization’s goal is all about providing youth with hands-on experiences that can help them conquer their fears and open up their minds to new possibilities.

Along with the rides, kids got a close-up look at the planes, interacted with a flight simulator, and enjoyed food and drinks donated by local businesses.
