From 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday), local and regional donation sites will accept non-perishable food and monetary contributions.  Washington County’s drop-off location is the Washington County Expo food court in Brenham.

All donations stay local to the county they are donated in.  For Washington County, contributions will support Bread Partners of Washington County, Faith Mission & Help Center, Prairie Hill Food Pantry, Burton Bridge Ministry and Washington Mobile Pantry.

Items recommended include beans, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats, cereal, pasta, rice, peanut butter, ready-to-eat snacks, soups, stews and tomato products.  Homemade or perishable items cannot be accepted.

Additional drop-off sites in the area are the Brazos Center in Bryan, Grimes County Fairgrounds in Navasota, St. Mary’s Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Hall in Caldwell, Son-Shine Outreach Center in Madisonville, Pridgeon Community Center in Franklin and First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Hearne.

Volunteer slots are still open for the collection event in Brenham for anyone who can greet visitors, unload vehicles, track and sort food donations, and provide entertainment and holiday spirit.  A link to sign up to volunteer can be found here.
