NO CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ON WASHINGTON CO. COURTHOUSE DUE TO CONSTRUCTION
The days will be merry but not quite as bright in downtown Brenham this holiday season.

during the 2024 Christmas Stroll, will not be lit up
for the holidays this year due to construction.
Due to ongoing construction at the Washington County Courthouse for the exterior restoration project, there will not be Christmas lights on top of the courthouse.
Carrie Marmol, Executive Administrative Assistant in the County Judge’s Office, said in order for crews to make repairs, the anchors on the courthouse roof that normally hold the Christmas lights running down from the flagpole had to be removed.
Additionally, none of the trees on the courthouse square will have lights. However, the county Christmas tree will be lit and decorated on the north side of the courthouse.
Marmol said the gazebo is still open to be used and is lit up.
No contractors will be on site during the Christmas Stroll in downtown Brenham this Friday and Saturday. The pre-parade ceremony on Saturday, featuring carolers and Girl Scouts, will take place on the steps of the Brenham Heritage Museum instead of the courthouse.
The construction project is planned to continue into the summer of 2026, so Marmol said the expectation is that next year’s Christmas celebration will return to normal.
