WASHINGTON CO. OBSERVES WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA DAY
Volunteers came together to honor Washington County veterans today (Saturday) as part of National Wreaths Across America Day.
The annual observance places wreaths on the grave markers of veterans across the country, in remembrance of their service and sacrifice.
In Brenham, over 700 wreaths were laid at Prairie Lea Cemetery. The program was coordinated by the Anchor Club of Brenham and included participation from local student groups, community members and other veterans.
Wreaths Across America Day was officially designated by the United States Congress in 2008. According to the Wreaths Across America organization, there are more than 5,200 participating locations this year.
