SHERIFF’S OFFICE MAKES ARRESTS FOR RACING, MARIJUANA POSSESSION
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported three arrests on Thursday.
Nearing 5:30 p.m., deputies responded to a weapon-involved situation in the 8700 block of FM 50. Upon arrival, the sheriff’s office determined that the suspect did have a weapon in his waistband but never displayed it in a threatening manner. The victim claimed he had been assaulted by his girlfriend, but the sheriff’s office reported he was not cooperative with the investigation. A records check determined he had active warrants, so he was taken into custody. 38-year-old William Christopher McConnell of Brenham was transported to the Washington County Jail, where he was charged with Failure to Control Speed, Dealers License Violation and Driving While License Invalid.
Around 6:30 p.m., Sergeant Adam Zavala reported observing two vehicles racing in the vicinity of Highway 105 and Blue Bell Road. A traffic stop was conducted with one of the vehicles, to which the driver admitted to racing. 17-year-old Tyler Scott Norsworthy of Brenham was placed into custody and taken to the Washington County Jail on a charge with Racing on a Highway. Contact was later made with the second driver, who is a juvenile.
A few minutes after 10:30 p.m., Sergeant Zavala initiated a traffic stop in the 3900 block of Highway 290 West for a defective headlamp. According to the sheriff’s office, an odor of marijuana was detected upon contact, leading to a search of the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger were taken into custody and booked in at the Washington County Jail. 21-year-old Chloe Faith McCune of Manor was charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz., No Seat Belt – Driver, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. 20-year-old Jamya Earlicia Satterwhite of Austin was charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 2oz., Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and No Seat Belt – Passenger.
