DR. TOMMY LUCAS APPOINTED TO UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON SYSTEM BOARD OF REGENTS

  

The president and co-founder of VIEW Optometry has been appointed to serve on the University of Houston System Board of Regents.

Dr. Tommy Lucas will serve a six-year term ending August 31, 2031.

Dr. Lucas has strong professional and community ties to Brenham through his involvement with the locally-owned optometry practice, VIEW Brenham.  He has held leadership roles in independent optometry, including past president of the Texas Optometric Association, and is a co-founder and board member of Elevate Digital Optics.

Dr. Lucas earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Baylor University.  He resides in Brenham with his wife, Dr. Mary Kate Walters. 

The Board of Regents is the governing body of the University of Houston System and oversees its three universities: University of Houston, University of Houston-Clear Lake and University of Houston-Downtown.  The board is composed of nine regular members and a student regent.
