BURLESON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS LOOKING AT SETTING SPEED LIMITS FOR COUNTY ROADS

Burleson County Commissioners are scheduled to begin discussions in early-2026 about setting speed limits on county roads.

According to the Burleson County Tribune, County Judge Keith Schroeder said at their last meeting that legal counsel Bill Ballard will be handling the research into the matter.

The commissioners want to know what is considered the standard speed limit for most county roads and subdivisions, as well as enforcement provisions.

Schroeder said that the county wants the flexibility to set varying speed limits based on safety issues for each road.

Some roads are more winding and would require lower speed limits, while others could adhere to a more uniform standard.

The Tribune article states that the County will post the issue as a public hearing agenda item when they are ready to address it.

The intent is to let the commissioners and the public both provide their input into the potential project.

No date has been set yet for when the speed limit discussion will be on the agenda.
