SPRING WOMAN ARRESTED IN WASHINGTON CO. AFTER SHOTS FIRED AT HOME WITH CHILD INSIDE

  

A Spring woman faces multiple charges in Washington County after an incident on Monday where shots were fired at a home with two people inside, including a child.

Close to 1:30 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shots fired call in the 1300 block of Wildwood Road, north of Ledbetter but just inside the Washington County line.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim stated that a female suspect was on the property and shooting towards their residence, while she and her three-year-old grandson were inside. 

During the investigation, deputies reported finding a bullet hole in the rear of the house, as well as in a tire on the victim’s vehicle.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect left the scene before authorities arrived, but the caller was able to provide a description of the suspect’s vehicle.  The vehicle was stopped on Highway 290 West near FM 180, and the suspect was taken into custody.  After conferring with the Washington County District Attorney’s Office, the suspect was transported to the Washington County Jail for booking.

61-year-old Gena Gay Sanders was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Trespass with a Deadly Weapon, Deadly Conduct – Discharge of a Firearm, and Abandoning/Endangering a Child with Imminent Danger of Bodily Injury.

Other agencies that assisted included the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
