ONE FLOWN TO HOSPITAL AFTER HUNTING ACCIDENT AT LAKE SOMERVILLE

A hunting accident Tuesday morning at Lake Somerville led to a victim being flown to the hospital for a gunshot wound.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports that shortly after 7:15 a.m., Deputy Carson Holton responded to an accidental shooting at the Iron Bridge Road boat ramp.  The deputy was advised that the victim, along with three other individuals, were duck hunting in the immediate area.

According to the sheriff’s office, one of the individuals attempted to move a rifle when it accidentally discharged, striking the victim in the left foot.  First aid measures were being administered to a 20-year-old male from College Station when authorities arrived.

The victim was airlifted by Washington County EMS to Baylor Scott & White in Temple for treatment.  The sheriff’s office stated that the victim is in “good condition”.
