SEVERAL NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATIONS IN THE AREA

  

With 2026 hours away, many locations around the area will be ringing in the new year with celebrations tonight (Wednesday).

The Brenham Firefighters Association will host a dance at the Fireman’s Training Center, 1101 Highway 290 West.  Doors open at 7 p.m., with music by Liberty Hill starting at 8 p.m.  A midnight meal of sausage, black-eyed peas and cabbage will be served, and light snacks will be available.  A cash bar will be open, and set-ups can be purchased.  Tickets are $25 per person and are available at the Brenham Fire Department, Dan’s Meat Market, K&M Grocery and Robert’s Service Station.

The Burton Short Stop Ice House, 12400 FM 390, will feature entertainment by the Coleton Black Band.  The Ice House opens at 5 p.m., and music begins at 9 p.m.  There will also be a mechanical bull and a champagne toast at midnight.  There is no cover charge.

Harmonie Hall in Shelby, located at 509 FM 389 West, will have a dance with the Risky Liver Band.  Doors open at 7 p.m., and the dance starts at 8 p.m.  Black-eyed peas will be served at midnight.  A cash bar with set-ups will be open.  Guests can bring their own snacks, but no outside drinks are allowed.  Tickets are $20 cash at the door.  There is no ATM on site. 

The Round Top Rifle Association Hall, 710 FM 1457, will open at 6 p.m. for music by the Lost Cause Band beginning at 8 p.m.  A community snack table will be available, and complimentary sliced turkey and ham will be served.  Additionally, cornbread and black-eyed peas will be served at midnight.  Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Round Top Mercantile or Round Top State Bank.

The Snook Extension Education Association will host a scholarship dance at the Snook SPJST Hall, 457 County Road 269.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and entertainment will be provided by “Louisiana’s Rockin’ Fiddler” Waylon Thibodeaux.  Cornbread and black-eyed peas will be served at midnight.  The event is BYOB, with ice and set-ups offered.  There will also be prize drawings.  Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.  More information on tickets is available by calling 979-406-0871, 210-244-3362, or 979-676-2619.

Main Street businesses in Anderson and the Anderson Volunteer Fire Department will host “Midnight on Main” outside the Grimes County Courthouse.  The free event will have live music starting at 8 p.m., with “Chasin’ U” – The Morgan Wallen Experience performing from 10 p.m. to midnight.  There will also be a fireworks show.  Lawn chairs are encouraged.
